Off the Page: From Ink to Air

Melissa Ford Lucken is a professor of English and creative writing at Lansing Community College, where she serves as editor of the Washington Square Review, the college's literary journal, and host of Washington Square On-Air, the journal's partner podcast. 

Students featured on this podcast come from Creative Writing I, Writer in the Marketplace, and Writing the Novel. In these courses, students learn the fundamentals and advanced techniques of creative writing. They practice voice development, drafting, revision, workshopping, and publication practices.

Writing classes are spaces where students share their written work, discuss it, and examine the process behind it, while also engaging in conversations about the work of writing and participating in writing and scholarly communities. The skills they develop can be applied across their academic, professional, creative, and community lives.
